The Hamar (likewise spelled Hamer) are an Omotic people group possessing southwestern Ethiopia. They live in Hamer woreda (or locale), a fruitful part of the Omo River valley, in the Debub Omo Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region (SNNPR). They are to a great extent pastoralists, so their way of life places a high esteem on cows.
